About Diss and District Cricket Club

Diss Cricket Club, established in 1863, has been based at Rectory Meadow in the heart of the pleasant South Norfolk market town for 40 years. 20 miles from both Norwich in the north and Ipswich in the south, Diss services a surrounding population of some 50,000.

The club runs 2 Saturday teams, 1 Sunday team and 4 youth sides : Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17. The home ground has a 10 pitch square, an artificial wicket, two fixed and one mobile practice net. The Clubhouse has just been refurbished.

The 1st X1 plays in the Premier Division of the Norfolk Cricket Alliance, the county’s top league while the 2nd X1 play in Division 5. The Sunday team enters the Carter Cup, Norfolk’s senior cup competition, the Lady Mary Plate and the Norfolk Umpires’ Cup. The Under 17s play in the junior Carter Cup. In addition, Sunday friendlies are offered when possible. The other junior sides are entered into all relevant age group competitions. We also stage an annual tour of Gloucestershire.

The highly qualified coaches offer coaching sessions on Saturday mornings throughout the season as well as winter indoor practice. All coaches are CRB checked and the club has 2 Child Welfare Officers. Many of our junior players have played at District and County age group levels.

Diss C.C. is a friendly, fully accredited ECB Clubmark  focus club and offers good quality competitive cricket and the more relaxed, recreational game in well maintained facilities, as well as thriving family and social activities.
